The mass launch at NARAM-50 will not be held. The initial press release and the Sport Rocketry article describe a project that could not be planned that would be acceptable to the host section. There were many issues, including the safety of a mass launch, that led to the decision.
A mass launch would have been one of the best ways to honor Vern and Gleda Estes for their 50 years of devotion to our hobby. Our apologies for any disappointment concerning the launch. You can imagine how disappointed we all were, but around that dark cloud, we found a golden lining. Now it is not confined to just those few hundred attending NARAM-50, but opened up so everyone can go in the backyard, flying field, or club launch and fly their own Golden Scout.
