Semroc has been selected as one of the three official vendors for the Team America Rocket Challenge (TARC) for 2008. TARC is jointly sponsored by the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) and the National Association of Rocketry (NAR). TARC is the largest national rocket contest for high school and middle school age students in the United States. This is the sixth year of the contest that was originally conceived as a one-time an event to commemorate the centennial of flight. It has been so successful and has garnered such a wide base of support from the aerospace industry that is now an annual event.

Since the first year, hundreds of schools and youth organizations and thousands of youth have participated. Each year the design goals change to keep the event fresh and present new challenges to returning teams. The challenge for 2008 is a combination of altitude (750 feet), duration (45 seconds), and design skill (two eggs) that is fully described in the TARC Team Rules. TARC is open to schools and other recognized youth organizations with contestants enrolled in the seventh through twelfth grade.

Semroc has had been involved with TARC since its beginning. We have served as Pad Manager (Carl McLawhorn) for five years, Timer (Bruce McLawhorn) for three years and also have both served as mentors and observers for all five years working with many local teams. Semroc has provided many of the parts used by teams over the years and we have always provided generous discounts to TARC teams. This year we are offering a 30% discount to all registered teams and are also extending the discount to mentors actively working with teams. We always pay postage and usually ship the same day an order is received.
